About Us

At Honey Bee Nursery, our aim is to create a warm and inclusive environment where every child feels safe and valued with real opportunities to thrive.

Our approach combines Montessori principles with Hygge-inspired outdoor learning, encouraging children to explore, play and learn in a natural and relaxed way.

We focus on nurturing curiosity, independence and creativity, while helping children develop a love for the world around them. Based in a growing community, Honey Bee Nursery hopes to become a trusted, welcoming space for families, a place that feels like a second home, where children can flourish.

Our Environment

At Honey Bee Nursery, we believe children learn best in an environment where they feel safe, comfortable and inspired to explore. Our indoor and outdoor spaces have been thoughtfully planned to support children’s learning, development, wellbeing and independence throughout the day.

Sensory Area

A calm and engaging space specifically designed to support children with sensory needs, giving them opportunities to explore different textures, sounds, colours and experiences at their own pace.

Quiet Sleeping Area

A peaceful and comfortable area where children can rest, sleep or simply enjoy some quiet time away from the busier parts of the nursery.

Dedicated Learning Zones

Different areas of the nursery encourage children to explore a wide range of interests and skills.

These areas are structured to support children’s learning and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Home Area

Our home area creates a familiar, imaginative environment inspired by everyday family life. Children can explore a pretend living room and kitchen, enjoy role play and use the dress-up area to “get ready”, helping to encourage imagination, communication and social play.

Mud Kitchen

A hands-on area where children can mix, pour, create and experiment, encouraging imaginative play and sensory exploration.

Sand Pit

A fun and engaging space that encourages tactile exploration, creativity and imaginative play.

Free Play
Space

An open area where children have the freedom to explore, move and choose their own activities. This gives them opportunities to enjoy unstructured play, follow their interests and develop their independence.

    Fees With Government Funding

We accept government funding. Government funded hours are typically allocated over term time only (38 weeks per year). As Honey Bee Nursery Limited operates for 51 weeks of the year, funding hours are stretched across the full year that the nursery is open.

Honey Bee Nursery ensures that all eligible children can fully access their funded entitlement without restriction. Access to funded hours is never conditional on purchasing extra paid hours or additional full sessions.

Please note that for all children there is a minimum booking requirement to ensure continuity and consistency for your child. This is 3 full-day sessions per week.

    • Please be aware that for funded children, this is optional and not enforced. We accept applications from funded children; however, registration depends on availability at the time of submission.

    This means:

    • 15/30 Funded hours are available during our Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday sessions only.

    • If you receive 30 hours funded childcare, this equates to 22 hrs and 21 minutes funded time per week at our nursery

      • This equates to 2x 10 hour days (i.e. full days)

      • The remaining 2 hours 21 minutes per week can be used as a short session from 7:30am to 9:51am OR from 12:30pm to 2:51pm. On the third day, if you would like your child to attend beyond their funded entitlement and remain for a full half-day session, the additionaltime will be charged on a pro-rata basis. The charge will be calculated based on the additional hours and minutes attended and would be £27.90

      • The quality of education will remain consistently high regardless of session length, with experienced and qualified staff using each session purposefully to focus on the child’s individual progress needs, interests and preferred ways of learning, ensuring every session contributes to their ongoing development.

    Bank Holidays

    • Honey Bee Nursery is closed on all official UK Bank Holidays and Public Holidays

    • Private sessions: Private childcare sessions are charged according to the child's agreed booking pattern and the number of booked sessions falling within each calendar month. Bank Holidays are chargeable and will be included in the monthly invoice. No replacement session or refund will be provided.

    • Funded sessions: As funded hours are only available during our Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday sessions, none of your child’s funded entitlement will be affected by Bank Holidays.

Essential Daily Pack for Funded Children

Early education funding covers the cost of core care, early learning, and education. It does not cover meals, consumables.

There is a £10 daily charge for days where your child is at the nursery for a full day. This fee covers provision of all food (breakfast, lunch, and snacks) and all essential hygiene supplies, including nappies, wipes and creams. The cost is broken down below:

Hot meal for lunch - £3

    Breakfast - £2

    Snack  -£1

    Afternoon tea - £2

Hygiene supplies (nappies and creams) - £2

Please note, this fee is only for days where government funding applies. Parents can opt entirely/partially out of this but will need to provide their own alternatives (such as bringing a packed lunch and other essentials like nappies/wipes from home). Please refer to our packed lunch policy.

If you decide that our additional services are no longer the right option for your family and would prefer to provide your own food and consumables, we would be grateful if you could give us 1 weeks notice.

    Trips and Outings

Educational trips and special activities are offered to all children with prior notice including transparent cost information. Children who do not participate, will remain at the nursery to engage in standard curriculum learning at no additional cost.

For example, trips can include visits to libraries or museums in the community with special activities comprising yoga or music. These are not a regular part of our provision but can be present occasionally throughout the term.

    Discounts

Sibling discount - Families enrolling multiple children will receive a discount.

    • We offer 10% discount for the 2nd child in the first 3 months

Referral programme - We will offer discounts for both the referring parents and the newly enrolled family

    • For the newly enrolled family: We offer 5% discount for fees covering one month for one child

    Nursery Funding

We accept funding for eligible children from 9 months until compulsory school age. If you think you may be eligible, ask our nursery managers for more information. Funded sessions are subject to availability. We calculate funding spread across the 51 weeks our nursery is open, and not over the 38 weeks (term time).

    Notice period.

Funding Notice period: A 2-week written notice period is required should parents wish to withdraw their child from a funded place or reduce their funded hours. This notice period allows the setting to process funding adjustments with the Oxfordshire County Council and reallocate provision effectively. This is also stated in our policy documents.

Private Notice period: To help us plan staffing and session availability, we ask that parents provide 4 weeks’ notice if they wish to reduce or cancel privately paid hours.

    Registration Fee

A non-refundable registration fee of £100.00 (cash only) is payable to cover administration costs. This fee applies when your child is due to start within one month of registration. If you would like your child to start at a later date, please contact us to discuss availability.

The registration fee does not apply to children accessing funded-only places. It is only payable by families who choose to purchase additional paid days alongside their child's funded entitlement, or by families accessing fully private, non-funded places.

For transparency, the registration fee will be shown on your first invoice.

    Deposit.

To secure your child's place, a £250.00 deposit is required before their start date. Where applicable, the registration fee must also be paid before your child begins attending.

If you are purchasing additional paid days or sessions, the deposit will be credited against your first month's invoice.

For families accessing a funded-only place, the deposit will be refunded within the first month's invoice.

We understand that circumstances can change. However, if your child does not attend on the agreed start date and the place is not taken up, the deposit will be retained. This is because the place has been reserved exclusively for your child and may have prevented us from offering it to another family.

No deposit is required for children accessing a funded-only Early Learning 2-Year-Old Place (15 hours).

    Monthly Fees

If your child is attending any additional paid sessions or services an invoice for the first month's fees will be issued shortly before their start date. To ensure a smooth start, all fees must be paid in full before your child's first day of attendance.

If you have any questions about your invoice or payment arrangements, please speak to a member of our team, who will be happy to help.

Be aware that fees are charged pro rata over the 12-month period. We are closed for one week over the Christmas period and this is not chargeable.

Unless we are in breach of these Terms and Conditions, all privately paid booked sessions must be paid for regardless of the child’s attendance. No refunds or reductions will be given for sessions missed due to sickness, holidays, other absence or unavoidable Nursery closure. Once booking patterns have been confirmed, sessions cannot be swapped.

Funded sessions: Different arrangements apply to government-funded sessions. The Nursery can only claim funding in accordance with the applicable Department for Education and local authority funding terms and conditions. This means that funding is generally claimed only for sessions where the child is in actual attendance, subject to the provisions for permitted short-term absences, including sickness or other unavoidable causes.

Where, due to a prolonged absence or other circumstances, the Nursery is no longer able to claim government funding in respect of a child's funded sessions, the Nursery reserves the right to terminate the child's place. In this specific circumstance, the usual one-month notice period will not apply, and the Nursery will provide two weeks' written notice to the parent/carer.

The Nursery will administer all funded places and absences in accordance with the applicable funding requirements. Termination of a place under this clause does not affect any statutory entitlement the child may have to funded early education, and parents/carers may make arrangements for their child's funded entitlement with another eligible provider.

    Late Payment of Fees

A charge of £50.00 will be made for fees outstanding after 1st of the month. Any parent or carer whose fees remain unpaid after 2nd of the month, risks their child’s place at the nursery being withdrawn. Any payments that are cancelled or returned from the bank will incur a £30.00 administration charge, and the parent/carer will be asked to pay by cash in the future.

    Late Collection of Children

A charge of £10 every 15 minutes (cash only) applies for late collections. This is to cover emergency staffing and other arrangements.

  • Hygiene Practices: Frequent handwashing, sanitization, and classroom cleaning

Illness Policy: Children must be symptom-free for at least 24 hours before returning
Security Measures: Secure Entry, supervised play areas, and emergency protocols

  • How parents can stay updated on their child's progress:

Key people are always available in the mornings and evenings to hand over and share information directly with parents.

Other ways in which we share information:

    • Two-year checks and one to one parent meetings with child’s key person. These meetings give parents and key people the opportunity to meet and discuss children’s progress and share any concerns about their development.

    • We also share information and a real insight into the day-to-day life and activities of the nursery with our parents/guardians, through our Famly online platform.

    • Emails/Letters.

    • Notices on the main door.

    • Suggestions for extension activities that enable parents to extend their child’s learning at home.

  • Our Approach

At Honey Bee Nursery, we are committed to helping children develop healthy eating habits from an early age. We provide meals and snacks made from nutritious, minimally processed and whole-food ingredients wherever possible. Where funded parents/carers choose to provide a packed lunch or snacks, we ask that it reflects the same healthy approach.

Our packed lunch policy follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Nutrition Guidance, NHS healthy eating advice and the principles of the Eatwell Guide.

    What Should Be Included

We encourage parents/carers to provide a varied and balanced lunch and/or snacks containing, where appropriate:

    • Fruit and/or vegetables – e.g. cucumber, carrot, peppers, tomatoes, berries, banana or other fresh fruit.

    • Starchy carbohydrates – e.g. bread, wraps, pitta, potatoes, pasta, rice or other grains. Wholegrain options are encouraged where suitable.

    • Protein – e.g. chicken, egg, fish, beans, lentils, hummus or other suitable protein foods.

    • Dairy or a suitable alternative – e.g. plain yoghurt, cheese or an unsweetened, calcium-fortified alternative.

    • Water – children will have access to fresh drinking water throughout the day.

Portions should be appropriate for the child's age, size and appetite. Children will never be expected to finish all the food provided.

Foods We Ask Parents/Carers To Not Included

To ensure consistency with the healthy food provided by the nursery, packed lunches and / or snacks should not contain:

    • Chocolate, sweets, confectionery or chocolate-coated products

    • Crisps or similar salty snacks

    • Biscuits, cakes, pastries or other high-sugar/high-fat treats

    • Sugary drinks, squash, energy drinks or fruit juice

    • Highly processed snack bars or fruit bars

    • Foods containing artificial sweeteners

    • Any type of nut

Dried fruit should only be included as part of the main meal rather than as a snack, in line with EYFS nutrition guidance.

    Foods Safety, Allergies and Choking

Parents/carers are responsible for ensuring food is suitable for their child's age and developmental stage and is prepared to minimise choking risk. Grapes, cherry tomatoes and similar round foods must be cut appropriately; no nuts should be provided to children in their packed lunch. We are a nut-free nursery.

Packed lunches containing perishable foods should be transported in an insulated lunch bag with an ice pack where required. Lunch bags must be clearly labelled with the child's name and, where requested by the nursery, the contents.

Parents/carers must inform the nursery of all allergies, intolerances, medical or dietary requirements. The nursery will manage these in accordance with the child's individual dietary and allergy arrangements.

    Working Together

We understand that families have different cultural, religious and dietary preferences. Appropriate alternatives will always be considered where a child has a medical, cultural, religious or other legitimate dietary requirement.

If a packed lunch does not meet this policy, we will discuss this sensitively with the parent/carer and work together to find suitable alternatives. Our aim is not to judge families, but to ensure that all children receive consistent, positive messages about healthy eating.
